Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag criticised the media in his latest pre-match press conference, accusing journalists of making up “fairy tales and lies” about his future.

The Red Devils boss is currently under pressure following a difficult start to the season which has left them 14th in the Premier League table.

Manchester United have recorded just two wins from their first seven games and have failed to score in their last three league matches.

Speaking ahead of the Red Devils’ Premier League meeting with Brentford, Ten Hag slated the press for being the “only” ones to make the “noise”.

He said journalists ignored his post-match comments after the 0-0 draw at Aston Villa on 6 October, when he said “we are on one page” about the backing he was receiving at Old Trafford.

"The only noise is only coming from the media, from you guys," said Ten Hag, as per The Mirror.

"From some of you, not all of you, bringing up stories, creating stories, making fairytales, bringing lies because we are all on one page this club.

"I told you that before the break, but several journalists didn’t believe me. I see the reports, but internally, in the club, it’s quiet.”

Now, ESPN pundit Don Hutchison has hit out at the Manchester United manager in response to his comments.
