TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Arsenal are leading Manchester United and other Premier League clubs in the race to sign Sverre Nypan.
The two English giants are both open to strengthening their squads – for the present as well as the future. Mikel Arteta and Ruben Amorim are both not afraid to give chances to young players.
Nypan, 18, is one of the most exciting players of his age in Europe right now, and he is of interest to several top clubs.
But, Arsenal are best placed to sign him, as things stand.
Arsenal are ahead of Man United and Man City in Sverre Nypan race
TBR Football's chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been told that Arsenal are leading several clubs in the race to sign Nypan.
Back in January, TBR revealed that Manchester United were pushing to sign Nypan. We can confirm that they were the long-term favourites for his signature having spoken to the youngster on many occasions.
However, the Red Devils could miss out now.
We understand that clubs are starting to talk to Rosenborg about a deal for Nypan, who they value at £10 million.
The Norwegian side want a deal finalised for the midfielder during their international break, with their new league season due to kick off in April.
TBR can reveal that Arsenal have held talks about a move, along with Borussia Dortmund, Benfica and Ajax, who are all keen to sign the talented 18-year-old.
We can also reveal that champions Manchester City have shown an interest in Nypan, whilst Tottenham, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Newcastle United are all being kept informed of the player’s situation, but Arsenal are the most advanced at this stage.
Arteta’s side are confident that they are now ahead of Manchester United, Man City and other interested clubs in the race for Nypan’s signature.
Who is Sverre Nypan and what’s his style of play?
Nypan is an 18-year-old midfielder who plays for Rosenborg and Norway’s U21s team.
The youngster is very versatile. He can play in all three central midfield positions and has also featured as a centre-forward.
Football Talent Scout describes Nypan as a ‘highly creative player’ with good pace, ‘very high football IQ’ and ‘outstanding vision to execute killer passes and set up goalscoring opportunities for his teammates’.
Nypan has also been branded as ‘unpredictable’ and has been praised for his ability on both feet.
Furthermore, the scouting outlet compares him to West Ham United and Brazil star Lucas Paqueta, a player who was linked with a move to Arsenal in the past.
