Exclusive: Birmingham City ready move to re-sign Burnley star

Birmingham City have set their sights on re-signing Nathan Redmond in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Birmingham are readying an offer for the forward’s services ahead of next month’s transfer window and are hopeful they can get a deal over the line.
Redmond’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and Burnley are not expected to trigger the optional one-year extension included in his deal.
The winger has yet to play for Burnley under Scott Parker’s management after returning from a hamstring injury in late November.
Since then, though, the 30-year-old has been named in the squad for just three of a possible seven Championship fixtures as he remains frozen out.
As a result, Burnley are open to offers for his permanent move in January in a last-gasp move to raise money from his departure, rather than letting him leave for free.
Birmingham City plot sensational Nathan Redmond return
Redmond joined Burnley on a free transfer from Besiktas in 2023, and made 15 appearances across all competitions in Vincent Kompany’s side, with 12 coming in the Premier League.
However, he has since been left out in the cold under Parker’s management and there is a growing expectation that he will leave Turf Moor in January.
The winger came through the academy setup at St Andrew’s and made 82 appearances, scored nine goals and picked up 11 assists before moving to Norwich in 2013.
He remains highly thought of in the West Midlands, and would welcome the opportunity to return to his boyhood club at this stage of his career.
Birmingham, meanwhile, are looking to further strengthen their squad after a record-breaking summer transfer window and are prepared to spend again in January.
Chris Davies’ side are top of the league after 19 games, and want to further strengthen their squad and push for promotion ahead of the second half of the season.
In other news, Birmingham are preparing an improved bid to sign Phil Neumann.
