Exclusive: Crystal Palace make Marc Guehi exit decision after Chelsea reveal

Crystal Palace will stand their ground with their lofty asking price for Marc Guehi amid interest from Chelsea, sources have told Football Insider.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 8 January that the Blues have opened preliminary talks to re-sign the 24-year-old centre-back.
However, the Eagles do not want to see their captain leave mid-season and would prefer to wait until the summer before entertaining offers for his signature.
Guehi has just 18 months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and there had been an expectation that his asking price would drop.
Palace set the defender’s price tag at £70million in the summer amid interest from Newcastle, before upping the price to £75million following concerns about squad depth.
They are now expected to demand a similar fee in this month’s transfer window in an attempt to deter interested parties.
However, there is a feeling at Selhurst Park that they may have to cash in come the summer rather than losing him for free as they aim to make a significant profit from his sale.
Crystal Palace set Marc Guehi asking price after Chelsea contact
Palace signed Guehi from Chelsea in 2021 alongside the likes of Joachim Andersen and Michael Olise, both of whom have since been sold for significant profits.
Since then, the centre-back has been a major part of Palace’s continued presence in the Premier League under Patrick Vieira, Roy Hodgson and now Glasner.
He has made 135 appearances for the Eagles and is now an established England international, playing a key role in their run to the final of Euro 2024.
Palace have been unable to make progress in attempts to tie him down to a new contract and there is an acceptance that he may have to leave in the summer.
For now, though, he remains a crucial part of Glasner’s side and will be key for the rest of the season as they look to rise up the Premier League table.
The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle remain strong suitors for Guehi and their interest is expected to step up once more come the end of the season.
