Exclusive: Everton could sign Southampton ace in '£5m' deal

Everton could secure Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters with a £5million bid in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that the Saints have "resigned to him leaving in the summer," but that would be on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season, therefore January would be the final opportunity for Southampton to cash in on him.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that a £5million bid would likely be enough to convince Southampton to let Walker-Peters leave this month.
The England international is a versatile defender who can play either right or left-back, while also having the capability of pushing onto right midfield.
Signing Walker-Peters would give new Everton boss David Moyes slightly more options, and having one player to cover multiple roles could be beneficial for the Merseyside giants right now.
Everton want to improve their squad this month
Everton are looking to strengthen the squad in this transfer window, but due to profit and sustainability restrictions, the new owners aren't able to splash the cash.
Walker-Peters being available for a cut price and having the ability to play in several positions could make him an ideal signing given their current circumstances.
Moyes has been tasked with keeping Everton afloat in the Premier League this season, with the club currently just one point above the relegation zone after 20 games.
The versatile defender has been a regular in the Southampton side this season, having played in 19 Premier League fixtures.
Walker-Peters has made 134 Premier League appearances throughout his career, scoring twice and providing 11 assists.
