Arsenal are set to find a deal for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes “too hard to do” in the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the midfielder, 27, in recent days and are keen on the Brazil international – but will struggle to complete a deal in the off-season.
Mikel Arteta‘s side have already agreed in principle to signing Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi – who has a release clause worth around £51million in his contract.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also set to be in the market for a world-class new striker in the off-season.
Arsenal unlikely to sign both Guimaraes and Zubimendi
RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko is on the radar, while incoming sporting director Andrea Berta is keen on Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
Guimaraes has been a long-term target for Arsenal but they are set to miss out on his signature in the summer window.

The former Lyon star captained Newcastle to their first trophy since 1955 on Sunday (16 March) as they defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the League Cup final.
He has made 37 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign, scoring three goals and notching eight assists.
The midfield star cost Newcastle around £40million in January 2022 and is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2028.
Trossard could quit Arsenal this summer
Football Insider revealed on 3 March that Arsenal star Leandro Trossard will be a viable target for Saudi Pro League clubs once again in the summer transfer window.
Al-Ittihad submitted a bid of around £30million in September 2024 – after the close of the English transfer window.
Trossard, 30, will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium in June.
