Luton Town have seen a bid for Wycombe Wanderers star Richard Kone rejected, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship side have approached the Chairboys for the in-form 21-year-old but have seen an initial offer turned down.

New Luton boss Matt Bloomfield, who left Wycombe last week to take the job at Kenilworth Road, has returned to his former side in a bid to prise one of their star performers away.

Kone has been key in the push for promotion at Adams Park this season and sits second in the League One scoring charts with 14 strikes.

He has hit 17 goals and notched two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Ivorian has started in 23 of those outings and scored against Premier League Aston Villa in September’s League Cup defeat.

Kone joined Wycombe in January 2024 after an extended trial with the Chairboys, having previously played for ninth-tier Athletic Newham.

The forward scored four goals and notched four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions in the second half of last season.

He signed a contract extension with Wycombe in November 2024, keeping him at the club until June 2026.

Bloomfield’s Luton sit 23rd in the Championship, with the new manager picking up just one point from a possible six in the second tier so far.

Meanwhile, Wycombe are second in League One and are yet to appoint a permanent successor for their 40-year-old ex-boss.
