Exclusive: Man City fear crushing £38m+ hit in new blow

Manchester City are set to be more than £38million down on their overall prize money this season, sources have told Football Insider.
Pep Guardiola's side have endured a disappointing campaign as they currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, 22 points behind leaders Liverpool after 29 matches.
Man City were crowned champions for a record-breaking fourth year in a row last season after pipping Arsenal to the title.
They earned around £62million in Premier League prize money for 2023-24 as each position is worth approximately £3.1million, meaning a fifth-place finish this season will be worth £49.6million.
Man City were knocked out of the Champions League in the play-off round by Real Madrid in February, having finished 22nd in the revamped league phase of the competition.
The English champions have banked around £64million in European prize money this season following their early exit.
That is £26million down on the £90million they earned from winning the Super Cup in 2023 and reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season, where they were also beaten by Real Madrid.
Sources have told Football Insider the Manchester giants are currently set to receive £113.6million, which is £38.4million down on the £152million worth of prize money they raked in last season.

Man City spent £200m after signing spree
Man City made just two new additions last summer after Savinho joined from Troyes for £30million and Ilkay Gundogan returned on a free transfer from Barcelona.
They were forced to spend heavily in the January transfer window following their difficult first half of this season, with Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez all making the move to the Etihad.
Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football InsiderMan City spent around £200million on their January signings as Guardiola looked to strengthen his side for the remainder of the campaign.
Their only remaining hope of a domestic trophy this season is in the FA Cup, where they will face Bournemouth in the quarter-finals at the Vitality Stadium on 30 March.
Man City could land £78m windfall
Man City could land a £78million windfall if they can win the Club World Cup this summer.
The 32-team competition, which is set to take place in the US, will start on 15 June and end on 13 July.
FIFA has confirmed there will be a £780million prize pot for the Club World Cup, with the winner likely to earn around £78million.
The governing body has said it will also provide £155million in European solidarity payments for non-participating clubs.
