Exclusive: Newcastle making move for 22-year-old to replace Saudi-bound Dubravka

Newcastle United are making a new move for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford as they prepare to replace Martin Dubravka, sources have told Football Insider.
Dubravka, who has been filling in for the injured Nick Pope in recent weeks, is expected to make a move to Saudi Arabia before the close of the transfer window.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is willing to let 35-year-old Dubravka leave, but wants to bring in a replacement to provide competition for Pope once he returns to fitness later this month.
The Magpies tried to sign Trafford, 22, in the summer transfer window but were priced out of a move for the England Under-21 international.
Newcastle believe they could stand a better chance of landing the former Man City youngster this month.
Dubravka has made seven appearances in the Premier League and League Cup this season, conceding just two goals and keeping five clean sheets.
His contract at St James’ Park only runs until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Newcastle target Trafford to replace veteran Dubravka
Meanwhile, Trafford has been a virtual ever-present for Burnley in the Championship – playing all but one of their 26 fixtures in the second tier.
The 22-year-old has conceded just nine goals and has kept 16 clean sheets for Scott Parker’s side this term.
He is under contract at Turf Moor until June 2027 after joining from Man City in July 2023.
Newcastle sit fifth in the Premier League after 20 games and are aiming for a return to European football next season.
Meanwhile, Burnley are second in the Championship as they target an immediate return to the top tier.
