Arsenal have begun the process of looking for a new sporting director after Edu Gaspar stepped down earlier this month.
The Gunners announced in an official statement that Edu called time on his two-year reign in the position, having initially returned to Arsenal as technical director in 2019.
Edu is thought to have been lined up for a lucrative recruitment role in the network of teams spearheaded by Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos.
Arsenal are now in pursuit of a new person to fill the role, and at least six individuals are in the picture, including a director once deemed “the best talent scout in the world by far”.

Luis Campos among those in running for Arsenal sporting director role
TBR Football understands that a host of names have been put to Arsenal by intermediaries – one of which is Simon Rolfes, one of the most respected footballing figures in Germany.
Roberto Olabe, who is stepping down at Real Sociedad, is appreciated too.
TBR Football can also confirm that one person with support within the Arsenal camp is PSG sporting director Luis Campos.
He has helped navigate the post Kylian Mbappe situation and the signing of Joao Neves – which he masterminded – has impressed hugely.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano described Campos as “the best talent scout in the world by far” on the CBS House of Champions podcast two years ago.
Former Arsenal players Per Mertersacker and Tomas Rosicky are also being considered for roles, which is possible, especially if they opt to keep Jason Ayto.
The Gunners assistant sporting director is being considered a viable candidate to replace his former boss.
Tim Lewis, Executive Vice-Chairman, is set to play a major part in the search along with co-owner Josh Kroenke.
We also understand that Tim Steidten is not in contention for the role, while Arsenal are insistent that nobody has an offer to come in.
What Edu has said about his Arsenal departure
Edu has been quick to dispel any rumours of a possible falling out behind the scenes at Arsenal.
In a statement, he said: “This was an incredibly hard decision to make.
“Arsenal has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and the chance to be a part of something so special in the club's history.
“It has been a special journey and I thank Stan, Josh, Tim and Lord Harris for the support they've given me.
“I've loved working with so many great colleagues across our men's, women's and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend.
“Now it is time to pursue a different challenge. Arsenal will always remain in my heart. I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best.”
Edu's decision is not expected to have an impact on William Saliba in terms of prospective negotiations over a fresh deal for the Frenchman.
