Liverpool will listen to offers for Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window as he is no longer a major part of Arne Slot’s plans.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that they have grown tired with his lack of consistency in front of goal.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 5 January that the Reds will accept offers between £50-60million for the 25-year-old amid links with a move to Newcastle.

Nunez has scored just four goals in 24 games across all competitions since Slot took over, leading to questions about his long-term future in his side.

Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have been regularly chosen ahead of their fellow attacker as more than half of his Premier League appearances this season have come from the bench.

As a result, his role in the squad has been significantly diminished and the Reds are now open to offers as they feel they can raise money from his sale.

Liverpool open to Darwin Nunez sale after new twist

Any money brought in from the sale of Nunez would likely be reinvested into the squad, particularly amid uncertainty around the futures of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that any deal would take place in the summer rather than in January.

It’s not one that would happen in January,” he told Football Insider.

“Slot wants to keep his squad strong because they’re still challenging for the Premier League and Champions League, and for that you need depth.

“I’m told they’ll listen to offers, though, because they could make some money from him.

“He’s one of four of five players who can play in that forward line, but he’s fallen down the pecking order.

“He’s too hit and miss, that’s his problem, he works hard and he’s impressive physically but he’s too inconsistent in front of goal especially.

“I think Liverpool will want to make some good money if they opt to sell him, because then they can buy someone new who is maybe a bit more consistent.
