Thomas Tuchel is the new England manager as the Three Lions finally settle on a replacement for Gareth Southgate.

The German is set to take charge in 2025 as Lee Carsley remains in control for the November international break.

Of course, a new England manager means a new window of opportunity for many players on the fringes of the squad.

A number of players at Crystal Palace will have aspirations of playing for England as the likes of Tyrick Mitchell, Adam Wharton and Eddie Nketiah eye recalls.

However, perhaps the most likely Palace player to make Tuchel's team is Trevoh Chalobah.

Indeed, Chalobah worked with Tuchel at Chelsea, and the gaffer was a big fan of Chalobah during his time at Stamford Bridge.

What Thomas Tuchel has said about Trevoh Chalobah

Tuchel was a big fan of Chalobah during his time at Chelsea, heaping praise upon him.

Indeed, Tuchel has previously described Chalobah as a 'fantastic' player when speaking to TNT Sports, and he utilised him on a regular basis during his time at Chelsea.

"Fantastic. He gets all the praise and it's well deserved. Two excellent matches. He played against Arsenal and Tottenham in friendlies, then 120 minutes on Wednesday, then 90 today and scores. It's fantastic these things happen in sports. A perfect day for him," Tuchel said.

"We will never stop doing so [playing youngsters]. Chalobah plays alongside Reece James and Mason Mount. This is how it has to be. This is what we love. This is what everyone loves about football – a mix of famous players from abroad and quality players from the academy."

Tuchel could pick a familiar defence for England

Thomas Tuchel knows a number of players in this England squad, and, if he was so inclined, he could pick a defence entirely made up of players he has managed at Chelsea.

Indeed, Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Levi Colwill are all in contention for international selection in defence, and Tuchel knows all of those players well.

Of course, after a poor start to the season, Chalobah will need to improve if he's to get back in the England squad.

That said, Chalobah was compared to Virgil van Dijk when he was under Tuchel's tutelage, so if any manager is going to get the best out of the Chelsea loanee, it's the new England boss.

It will certainly be interesting to see what sort of decisions Tuchel makes as England gaffer.
