Liverpool fans have criticised owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) on social media in reaction to Mohamed Salah saying there has been "no progress" on a contract extension.

The 32-year-old is now free to discuss potential moves with other clubs ahead of the summer, as his contract has less than six months remaining.

He is one of three key Liverpool players—alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk—whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, Salah has reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool over an extension, but a full deal is yet to be finalised.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the Egyptian star revealed that this will likely be "his last season at the club" citing a lack of progress in contract negotiations, with both parties still "far away" on reaching an agreement.

Liverpool cannot afford to lose any of their key players

Salah has been in scintillating form for the Reds this season, scoring 20 goals and providing 17 assists in just 26 games across all competitions. He appears on track to surpass his best-ever season at the club.

After another stellar performance in a 5–0 demolition of West Ham on 29 December, Salah remained tight-lipped about his future, reiterating that his focus is solely on helping the team.

Meanwhile, both Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold have also drawn headlines amid uncertainty about their futures. Real Madrid have shown interest in Alexander-Arnold, though the defender is not expected to leave during the January window.

Despite ongoing contract negotiations, many fans are frustrated with how Salah's situation has been handled. One supporter labelled FSG as a "disgrace" while another described the drawn-out process as "beyond insane".

Sporting director Richard Hughes has also faced criticism, with one fan calling him a "complete failure" for his role in the contract disputes.

In other news, Liverpool fans want the club to sign this Nottingham Forest star.
