Dominic Solanke has made a strong start to life at Tottenham Hotspur with his performances quickly making him a fan favourite.

The striker has just three goals to his name at Tottenham so far, however, his overall displays are what have impressed the most following his club-record move to N17.

Solanke has had big boots to fill having been tasked with being the man to replace Harry Kane just over a year on from his departure to Bayern Munich.

Replacing one of the world’s best players and the club’s all-time leading goal scorer is a daunting task but Solanke seems to have taken it in his stride showing no signs of feeling the pressure.

Harry Redknapp has now had his say on whether the former Chelsea star will be able to fill the boots of Kane at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Redknapp on Solanke replacing Solanke

Redknapp has admitted he is a big fan of Solanke, although he will never be as good and as well-rounded as Kane. Despite the big improvement in his game from his goal-scoring to his movement, the 27-year-old will struggle to hit the same heights as the Tottenham legend did during his nine-year spell in North London.

Redknapp told talkSPORT (22/10 at 9:23am): “Well, I think he is a good player. I liked him at Bournemouth. He improved and his movement was good and he scored the goals there last year, it was his best year. But Harry Kane is a level apart from anybody. He is fantastic. What an all-round player he is, you know.”

Solanke was never going to be able to directly replace Kane in terms of out-and-out quality, however, the striker’s presence in Ange Postecoglou’s attack has taken the team to the next level.

His ability to lead the line, hold the play up and bring others into the game has been crucial and something the Australian coach was missing from his team last season. Solanke might not be scoring the goals just yet but his contribution is certainly being felt.

Why Tottenham will not win the league under Ange Postecoglou

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s chances of winning the Premier League title were also discussed on talkSPORT with the team finally starting to click into gear.

Spurs thumped West Ham United 4-1 as they produced a swift response to their shock defeat against Brighton before the international break.

Postecoglou’s side are now four points off the top four and eight off the top spot, however, Ally McCoist has completely dismissed any hopes of them challenging due to their inconsistency.

McCoist said on talkSPORT (22/10 at 9:21am): “As I said earlier, I think they are a great watch, but they are not going to win the league. Totally inconsistent.”
