Arsenal picked up a deserved 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby.

The Gunners completed the double over Spurs on Wednesday night thanks to an own goal from Dominic Solanke followed by a great strike by Leandro Trossard in the first half.

Mikel Arteta’s side absolutely dominated the game from the first whistle. The scoreline makes it look like it was a close fixture, but it was far from it.

Arsenal were the better team by a mile, and Declan Rice was blown away by one of his teammates’ performance in the North London Derby.

Declan Rice heaps compares Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly to a Tottenham hero

Myles Lewis-Skelly became the youngest Arsenal player to start a North London Derby since Cesc Fabregas nearly 20 years ago.

The 18-year-old is one of the finest young talents in the country, and he has produced a few excellent performances for the Gunners this season.

However, his display against Tottenham on Wednesday night was by far his best.

Lewis-Skelly didn’t look fazed by the occasion at all. He was incredibly composed on the ball, took on Spurs players at will and earned a deserved standing ovation from the home fans.

Rice, who had a brilliant game himself, was in awe of Lewis-Skelly’s performance, so much so that he compared him to Tottenham hero Mousa Dembele.

He said on TNT Sports: “The young boy Myles, again, he’s just unbelievable. For 18, what he showed tonight was just ridiculous.

“It’s scary! The 18-year-olds now, they’ve got no fear whatsoever. He’s got that Mousa Dembele trait where he uses his body to get away from stuff.

“Sometimes, yeah, okay, it’s risky, but to show that at 18, the personality and character, honestly, he’s unbelievable.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s stats vs Tottenham are unbelievable

It’s hard enough for an 18-year-old to play in any game in the Premier League, but the North London Derby makes it all the more difficult.

However, Lewis-Skelly made it look easy against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

The Hale End graduate had 48 touches of the ball and completed 30 of his 32 attempted passes, maintaining a stunning 94 per cent passing accuracy.

The teenager made four tackles, two clearances, and won all but one of his duels. He also wasn’t dribbled past a single time in the entire game, which is really impressive considering he was up against Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson.

Lewis-Skelly has announced himself on the big stage now, and we are convinced that he is going to be a big star for Arsenal and England in the coming years.
