Tottenham Hotspur returned from the international break on the weekend with three emphatic points against one of their London rivals.

Despite going behind, Ange Postecoglou‘s side were able to win comfortably against West Ham United as the Lilywhites put on a show for their home fans.

Heung-min Son also returned from injury with a goal as Tottenham were able to put their frustrating defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion behind them.

However, one player who was unable to get his name on the scoresheet was the in-form Brennan Johnson.

The Welshman came into the game in scintillating form having scored in his previous seven games for clubs and country.

But his red hot streak in front of goal came to an end on Saturday despite putting in a fine display for the Lilywhites.

Who has helped Brennan Johnson to discover his recent form

It was a slow start to the season for the Wales international who did not score or assist in his opening four Premier League games.

However, Johnson has since been able to score three in the league and three across the Europa League and League Cup.

Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle has hailed Johnson for his recent form claiming it should be enough to have won the fans over.

And it seems as if Johnson has been receiving some solid help behind the scenes from Tottenham coach Ryan Mason.

“I’ve been working with the coaches here and especially with ‘Mase’,” Johnson told football.london.

“He’s been doing a lot of work with me on picking up positions, the different types of finishes, what kind of part of the foot I’m hitting with and also dribbling and then shooting, so a lot of thanks must go to him because he’s been helping me a lot with that.”

Only a couple of weeks ago it looked as if Mason was set to follow in Chris Davies’ footsteps of leaving Postecoglou’s backroom staff for a managerial role.

Mason was in talks to become the new Anderlecht manager but the prospect fell through with the Belgian side sticking with their interim coach.

However, there may be a lot of questions from some Spurs fans as to whether Mason is actually a valuable member of the team in north London.

But it seems as if he played a huge part in Johnson’s recent success which has the Wales international finally looking like a real threat in front of goal.
