Former Derby County star Shaun Barker is of the view that Rams star Craig Forsyth is pivotal to the squad because he very rarely lets his side down.
The 35-year-old defender joined Derby in 2013 and has 348 games under his belt for the Rams.
With Callum Elder being injured, Paul Warne gave Forsyth his first start of this season against Norwich City at the weekend and the player scored a goal while assisting another one in Derby’s 3-2 defeat.
Barker pointed out that it is not an easy task for a player to start a game and make an impact in it after not playing regularly and hailed Forsyth for scoring in seven consecutive seasons for Derby.
The ex-Rams star also thinks that Forsyth is a pivotal figure in the Derby squad because he very rarely lets his team down.
When asked about Forsyth's record of scoring in seven consecutive seasons for Derby, Barker told Rams TV: "Yes, remarkable really.
"Not only to obviously score in seven different seasons, but to put in a performance like that when you have not played, it is so difficult.
"To be called in, not out of the blue because Elder is injured, but to say you have to start this game and we want you to perform, I thought he got better as the game went on.
"In the first half, he obviously was booked, there were a few moments where he was in difficult positions and did not quite make the block or the tackle.
"The second half he was just back to himself, driving forward, creating things; obviously got a goal, a right foot finish, which he would be a little bit surprised with, but great to see him on the scoresheet and of course, how often does he let you down? Very, very rarely and that is why he has been such a pivotal part of this group and this squad over the last ten, eleven years. "
The 35-year-old extended his stay with Derby in the summer and he will be hoping to help the Rams stay well away from the Championship relegation battle this season.
