Owen Hargreaves backs Curtis Jones to score a ‘tonne of goals’ for Liverpool

The player in question is Curtis Jones, who scored on his 100th Premier League appearance for Liverpool.

Jones netted the goal to put the Reds in front against Leicester City on Boxing Day and could have got another with a good break into the box.

"He's such a confident young man Curtis Jones,” Hargreaves said on Optus Sport.

“I think at the position that he plays, he's going to score a tonne of goals in this team, because he is a proper player.

"He's a bit of a throwback, technically he can play the ball anywhere but [he also] has great size, [is] a great finisher.

“I can't believe that, 23-years-old, 100 Premier League games. That's brilliant at a big club.”

Curtis Jones shares what Jurgen Klopp wrote to him after Leicester clash

“I just came in then, we had a talk with the team and I just went on the phone,” Jones said, as per Optus Sport.

“I normally text family and stuff and I saw a text from Klopp, he said 'congrats on 100 games and here's to 500 more' or something like that.

I was like what's he on about, 100? I'm on more than that! But I just checked the Instagram and 100 games, yeah. Proud, really proud.”

Jones continued: "He is on Instagram so he gets to see it.

“But that's what he's like, he's still in touch with the whole team. He's a great man and he's still loved by us.

“It was him who set up the team we've got now, the foundation was there already and Slot's just carried it on."

Other Liverpool players who have improved under Arne Slot

Slot has helped Jones improve as a player, resulting in his brilliant form and an England call-up.

Ryan Gravenberch has also been transformed under Slot, becoming one of the Reds' most important players in that holding midfield role.

Gravenberch has even been compared to Patrick Vieira this season, testament to just how much he has improved under the new Liverpool boss,.

Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate has improved a lot this term too, while Luis Diaz has impressed playing at No. 9 under Slot.
