Liverpool have perhaps the best defence in the Premier League at the moment.

The Reds have conceded just one goal in their opening four league matches this season, and it's fair to say that their back four has been almost flawless this term.

Virgil van Dijk has been as imperious as ever, while Ibrahima Konate has quickly established himself as Arne Slot's first-choice partner for Van Dijk.

Speaking on The Rest is Football, Micah Richards has been discussing Konate's rise to prominence this season, and he says that he's spotted the one flaw in the Frenchman's game.

Indeed, Richards believes that Konate can take too many risks on the ball due to the fact he trusts his physical abilities so much.

Micah Richards spots Ibrahima Konate's flaw

Richards spoke about the Liverpool defender and the flaw in his game.

"I mean, there's always a flaw in defenders, I think. I really liked Quansah, you know, the young boy and then he had this moment last season where he made a mistake. He started the season with Arne Slot," Richards said.

"He brought him off earlier on in the game because he said he wasn't winning enough headers, he has brought in Konate.

"He's aggressive, he's powerful, he takes a lot of chances, sometimes positioning-wise where it was a bit like me in my career where you back your physical attributes to get you out of trouble. Sometimes on the ball, I feel like he takes a few risks, a few more risks than he would like to."

Ibrahima Konate takes risks

Richards is right, Konate can take some unnecessary risks on the ball, but, more often than not, he can get away with it.

Indeed, Konate is in a very privileged position where his mistakes aren't punished as much as they perhaps would be in another team.

Not only is Konate strong and fast himself, his partner, Virgil van Dijk, also has the same traits, while Alisson Becker is perhaps the best one-on-one goalkeeper on the planet right now.

Konate can be a risky player, but in this Liverpool team, he can afford to take those gambles.
