Kai Havertz has played against some of the best of the best during his career so far.

From Virgil van Dijk to Ruben Dias, the German has had some brilliant battles with some of the best defenders on the planet.

Luckily for Havertz, he doesn't have to face off against either William Saliba or Gabriel Magalhaes as they are his teammates at Arsenal.

Saliba is considered one of the best defenders in the world, and Havertz must thank his lucky stars every single day that he doesn't have to play competitive matches against the Frenchman and his partner, Gabriel.

However, Havertz wasn't always this lucky

Speaking to the Premier League, Havertz has been discussing his toughest ever opponents, and he says that Gabriel and Saliba were both horrible to play against when he was at Chelsea.

Kai Havertz hated facing Gabriel and Saliba

Havertz spoke about playing against his two teammates.

The German claimed that it really wasn't nice to play against Saliba and Gabriel, stating that they are two of the best defenders he's ever faced.

"Who has been your toughest opponent so far?" Havertz was asked.

"There are lots of good players in the Prem at the moment, Van Dijk, and I remember when I was at Chelsea, playing against Saliba and Gabriel is not nice. There are lots of good players," Havertz said.

Havertz's record against Arsenal for Chelsea

Havertz may be an Arsenal star now, but, once upon a time, the German was playing for one of the Gunners' biggest rivals, Chelsea.

Havertz says he used to struggle against Gabriel and Saliba, and the stats back that up.

Havertz was wholly ineffectual whenever he played against Arsenal, so much so that it's hard to believe that anyone in north London believed he would be a good signing.

Of course, since then, Havertz has seriously improved as a player, and his goal output has stepped up.

Havertz has been praised for his performances this season, and he could have a key part to play in Arsenal's title tilt as the Gunners try to win their first league title in 20 years.
