Sam Matterface has been left shocked at what his colleague Scott Minto has said about Tottenham Hotspur, with him being an ex-West Ham and Chelsea player.

Ange Postecoglou has adopted an exciting style of play since becoming Tottenham Hotspur boss, but it does have its negatives.

The high line is something the Australian used to great effect at Celtic, and it’s worked at times in North London.

However, Jan Vertonghen voiced his concern over how high Ange had his defence against Chelsea last season, and that proved to be a big mistake on the day.

We think the high line is not an issue; rather, they need to adapt depending on the opposition.

One pundit who dropped a rather surprising comment on Tottenham recently was Scott Minto, who left his colleague Sam Matterface shocked…

Scott Minto makes interesting Ange Postecoglou claim

Scott Minto played 70 times for Chelsea and 62 times for West Ham United, so you can understand why Sam Matterface is surprised at his colleague saying something positive about Spurs.

On the Premier League All Access podcast, Sam Matterface, Alex Crook and Scott Minto were all talking about Ange Postecoglou’s time at Spurs.

Here’s what Minto had to say when asked about Ange Postecoglou’s future after the Coventry result.

“Look, I’m probably in the minority here, especially being ex Chelsea and West Ham. I’m pleased that Tottenham got through, because I don’t want to see, I don’t want to see all the, I can see your face now, Sam.

“I don’t want to see all the pile on for someone who I think, actually, I enjoy his teams watching, and I want him to do quite.”

Sam Matterface replied.

“Well, first of all, the reason I pulled the face is because I swear that you’re ex-West Ham and ex-Chelsea, and the idea of you not wanting Tottenham to be knocked out is weird to me.”

Should Ange Postecoglou stay at Spurs?

There’s no doubting Ange’s high line is risky at times, but that’s how he plays, and Daniel Levy will know that from watching him in Scotland before he hired him.

Tottenham have actually dominated most games and have created some good chances, it’s just been the finishing and defensive mistakes from set pieces that have let them down.

Of course, it’s Postecoglou’s job to get his side improving in these areas, but it’s then down to the players to deliver for him and they’ve let him down at times.

One thing we do think, though, is that he needs to maybe have a bit of a rethink on the high line in certain games, as it does border on insanity at times.
