There were a lot of interesting predictions made about Liverpool before the start of this season.

The Reds headed into the unknown this term as they entered the Arne Slot era following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.

Many comparisons were made to the post-Alex Ferguson Manchester United team which was a bit of a mess, but, so far, Liverpool have been solid.

The Reds have won four of their opening five games in all competitions this season, and while last week's defeat to Nottingham Forest was disappointing, the Slot era has started well.

Speaking on The Stomping Ground, Troy Deeney has been discussing Liverpool's start to the season, and he says that the Reds have already proven his pre-season prediction wrong.

Liverpool have proven Troy Deeney wrong

The pundit says that he expected Liverpool to be a lot more of a mess than they currently are.

"Top four I'd go City, Arsenal and Liverpool and then take your pick, I'd probably go for Chelsea, just," Deeney said.

"How has that changed since the start of the season?" Deeney was asked.

"I thought Liverpool would be a bit more of a mess," Deeney said.

Liverpool look stable

The best thing you can say about Liverpool at the moment is that they're a team that looks stable.

So often when a legendary manager leaves, a team can lack identity and look lost as they enter a new era, but the Reds have basically kept their momentum up from Klopp's last season.

Arne Slot has done a brilliant job of steadying what could've been a very shaky ship after Klopp's departure.

The Reds suffered their first blip of the season last week against Nottingham Forest, but there was no sign of an inquest into what's gone wrong or the manager's tactics, and that is a testament to how quickly Slot has earned the trust of Liverpool fans and the wider footballing media.
