'I was talking': Heung-min Son explains the one reason Tottenham's players think they lost to Leicester City

Heung-min Son will be hoping that Tottenham Hotspur can bounce back the next time they step foot on the pitch as their 2-1 defeat against Leicester City further reflected how dire things are at Spurs.
However, the Tottenham captain will also be fully aware that his side cannot sweep their latest defeat to a Leicester side battling relegation under the rug.
Heung-min Son scored a brace in the Lilywhites’ 3-2 win against Hoffenheim in the Europa League and on the weekend, it was back to square one for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
With that being the case, it is understandable why Tottenham supporters might also question whether their side will simply return to winning ways in the Premier League against Brentford.
Son addressed Tottenham’s prospects of potentially fighting relegation by playing them down and looking ahead at what’s to come.
But calls to sack Ange Postecoglou are being made as a section of Tottenham supporters are naturally starting to doubt if things will genuinely take a turn for the better.
Heung-min Son reveals Tottenham players think “lack of concentration” cost them against Leicester City
Spurs have won just one out of their last 10 league games, highlighting that as things stand, it seems highly unlikely that they will put a winning run together.
The pressure is mounting on Ange Postecoglou and even if Tottenham go on and beat Liverpool to reach the Carabao Cup final in less than two weeks’ time, the league is truly reflective of any side’s true quality.
After the hosts’ bitter defeat at the hands of Leicester City, Son revealed that he spoke to his teammates who felt their lack of concentration is what led to their capitulation in the space of five minutes where they conceded two goals.
The South Korean icon was asked: “It started well Sonny, got ahead, their ‘keeper’s made some saves, just the start of the second half that’s cost us.”
Son replied: “Yeah, I think it’s because of that it is more painful and it’s more frustrating. I was talking to players, it is with our lack of concentration, especially in the second half where we feel like scoring goals is so hard and sometimes you feel like conceding goals is way too easy.”
“Yeah, we’re going to work on that and we have to look back on just doing the better things.”
It is all too familiar a story for this Tottenham side, who were 2-0 up against Brighton & Hove Albion in October and went on to concede three goals in the first 21 minutes of the second half to eventually lose 3-2.
Spurs’ players look physically and mentally worn out, with Pape Sarr starting against Leicester with an injury and Dejan Kulusevski seeming exhausted against the Foxes as well.
Is Ange Postecoglou going to get sacked after Tottenham lost to Leicester City?
Ange Postecoglou’s job is safe after Tottenham despite his side’s damaging loss against Leicester.
TBR Football were told Daniel Levy had no plans to sack Postecoglou after the North London Derby and his stance remains unchanged since then.
Since Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Tottenham, Spurs have lost to back-to-back games against Everton and Leicester but still, Levy seemingly views the former Celtic boss as the right man for the job.
Tottenham’s players are motivated by the cup competitions this season as they are currently leading 1-0 after the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final while still being in the FA Cup and the Europa League.
The Tottenham players are still playing for Ange Postecoglou, which is a positive despite their performances on the pitch reflecting the polar opposite.
Spurs have a chance to bounce back against IF Elfsborg in the Europa League and give their supporters a reason to smile on Thursday night.
But there are no free lunches in life and especially in football and the Tottenham squad will have to be fully-focused if they wish to conquer the Swedish side.
