Rangers could be backed with a £20-25million budget in the transfer window following 49ers Enterprises’ takeover, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the prospective new owners plan to build the club’s revenue while allowing the manager and recruitment staff room to spend.

Meanwhile, qualifying for the Champions League either through the Europa League or next season would provide an additional boost to the club’s finances.

However, this will come as part of a long-term strategy, and the current priorities remain to find a replacement for Philippe Clement and sort out the financial situation.

Football Insider revealed on 12 March Rangers have received a £5.3million injection from their current owners in the form of a new share issue.

That is thought to have cleared some of the club’s debts, to give 49ers Enterprises a clean slate to work with once they arrive as they establish a clear plan.

49ers Enterprises’ Rangers plan revealed as new timeline emerges

49ers Enterprises’ takeover at Rangers is drawing closer to completion after reports that a deal has now been agreed in principle.

O’Rourke explained that the prospective new owners are not expected to throw money at problems in a bid for immediate success, but will have a carefully thought-out plan.

The recent conservative nature of the club in the transfer market is expected to continue, and they are not expected to fork out large transfer fees this summer.

Meanwhile, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 18 March that 49ers want to complete the Rangers takeover before the transfer window opens.

That will then allow them to complete some incoming business in the summer to kickstart their arrival as the club’s new custodians strongly.

Barry Ferguson lined up as Ibrox manager update emerges

Rangers are still prioritising the appointment of a new manager following Clement’s departure last month, as speculation continues about the future of Barry Ferguson.

The former Gers player was appointed as interim boss until the end of the season, but has since secured a 3-2 win against Celtic at Parkhead and progressed into the Europa League quarter final.

As a result, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Ferguson could be named Rangers’ permanent manager and he is now very much in the running for the job.

However, Wyness told Football Insider on 20 March that Rangers want to appoint a big-name manager, meaning the current interim boss could miss out.
