Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has taken to social media to thank the fans for their support throughout the year, soon after being linked with a move to rivals Man United.

According to The Sun, Man United are interested in bringing the 24-year-old across the Pennines to provide competition for Andre Onana.

The Premier League side have reportedly been keeping tabs on Meslier for the past couple of seasons, with Man United goalkeeper scout Tony Coton pushing for the move.

Meslier has been key to Daniel Farke’s side despite some high-profile mistakes, starting all 22 of his appearances across all competitions, conceding 15 goals, and keeping 12 clean sheets in his 1980 minutes of action.

The shot-stopper has earned the ire of Leeds fans numerous times this season, most notably for his howler in their 2-2 with fellow promotion chasers Sunderland.

Despite his fractious relationship with the supporters, Meslier took to Instagram after their 4-0 Championship with over Oxford United to say: “What a game! Thank you all for your amazing support, it means everything. Wishing you a Merry Christmas filled with joy and unforgettable moments. Let's keep pushing forward together!

Leeds’ win over Oxford United on Saturday (December 21) keeps them in the automatic promotion spots going into Christmas, three points behind league leaders Sheffield United.

Farke’s side will travel to Stoke on Boxing Day (December 26) in their penultimate game in the hectic festive period.
