Jamie Carragher makes 'amazing' Mohamed Salah claim amid Liverpool contract latest

Mo Salah is the favourite to win the Ballon D’Or next year amid his form for Liverpool, Jamie Carragher has claimed.
The ex-Reds defender has come under fire from supporters of his old club this season for some of his comments on the attacker’s contract situation at Anfield.
Yet despite all that, Carragher is still tipping the Liverpool talisman to lift football’s biggest individual honour next year.
When asked who he thinks will be named the Ballon D’Or winner and Premier League Player of the Year in 2025, the 46-year-old told the Daily Telegraph: “Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Salah.
“The Liverpool winger is already on his way to winning the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' Association Player of the Year, and if his side go on to win the Premier League his only credible rivals for that honour would be some of his own team-mates or Chelsea's Cole Palmer.
“Salah's goal and assist tally is consistently amazing and there is no bigger admirer of his talent than me, regardless of what his fan club on social media might say!
“Salah has stated in the past that he wants to become the second African to win the Ballon d'Or after George Weah did so in 1995. I think he has a great chance. The judges usually pick the player of the tournament at a World Cup or European Championship.
“With no international tournament this year, it will probably be dictated by the outstanding players in the Champions League.
“Liverpool may have to win, or at least reach the final for Salah's ambition to be realised. But no attacker in Europe is currently as productive as him, and it is usually the forwards who win.”

It would not be a surprise if Carragher’s prediction of some big personal awards for Salah next year proved to be accurate.
Right now Liverpool are pulling away in the Premier League, sitting six points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand as well.
They are also the only side with a 100% record in the Champions League as things stand, meaning they look well set to compete for the top prize in Europe too.
As the club’s top scorer with 19 goals in all competitions this season, as well as 15 assists, Salah is proving integral to that success.
As Carragher says it is usually players who are key in winning teams who get these awards, so if Liverpool continue in this form, he will be in prime position for individual recognition too.
That will underline the importance of keeping him at Anfield, and so the growing belief he will indeed extend his contract beyond the end of this season will be a relief for Reds supporters.
