Jamie Carragher sent Mohamed Salah a contract plea in response to the Liverpool superstar’s joke that he is ‘obsessed’ with him.
Salah hit back at Jamie Carragher‘s suggestion for the forward to be more like Virgil van Dijk during the transfer period, but it didn’t take long for Carragher to respond once more.
Responding to Salah’s social media post which featured a photo of himself with the other two out-of-contract stars Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Carragher praised the Liverpool captain’s behaviour.
“I think the other two [Salah and Alexander-Arnold] could take a leaf out of Virgil van Dijk’s book,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“What I would say is Virgil van Dijk has come out of this whole situation as the captain of the club in a higher esteem for me.
“The way he’s conducted himself, his performances, the way he’s led the team, the way he was yesterday. He hasn’t got involved in too much around this.
“It’s obviously a really important time for these three players, but I think I speak about Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah when I pay tribute to Virgil van Dijk.
“He’s been asked questions, he’s knocked it away, he’s here to win the league and to do his utmost for Liverpool and fingers cross he signs.
“I think the other two could look at Van Dijk and take a leaf out of his book” Carragher said.
Replying to a post shared on Sky Sports’ X account, Mo Salah penned on X: “I'm starting to think you're obsessed with me” with a winking emoji.
Carragher soon wrote back: “I've always been obsessed with you @MoSalah hopefully that obsession will continue next season”.
Like all Liverpool fans, Carragher is sweating on the futures of Liverpool’s key trio, who are due to leave the club for free in June.
Carragher criticised Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance against the 2-2 draw with Man United days after Real Madrid sent in a £20million bid for the right-back.
“The most important thing is Liverpool winning the league. My problem is, Liverpool are going for a league title, it’s January and he [Trent] would have known that and it would kick up a fuss ahead of a big game” Carragher said after the match.
Weeks before, Carragher called Salah ‘selfish’ for telling reporters there were no updates on his contract before a big game against Man City.
