John Terry takes brutal swipe at Zlatan Ibrahimovic over Chelsea trophy comments

John Terry cheekily hinted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would not have started for Chelsea had he signed during his career.
Ibrahimovic is one of football’s greatest ever strikers and enjoyed an illustrious career that saw him win a total of 32 trophies.
The Swedish legend starred for clubs including Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan, as well as Paris Saint-Germain where he scored an incredible 156 goals in 180 appearances.
Much of his success came between 2006 and 2016, during which time Chelsea were Premier League and Champions League winners.
Ibrahimovic was reportedly of interest to the Blues eight years ago but has since revealed why chose not to move to Stamford Bridge.
As quoted by 365scores on Instagram, he is reported to have said: “Chelsea couldn’t sign me, I have more trophies than Chelsea. I should have been the one to sign them.”
However, Chelsea’s legendary captain Terry took to the comments and revealed his reasoning as to why Ibrahimovic didn’t’ sign.
“He didn't want to be on the bench,” he said, with the former centre-back also tagging his fellow Blues icon Didier Drogba.
Drogba is the third highest goalscorer in Chelsea’s history having netted 164 goals in all competitions across his two spells at the club.
He first joined from Marseille in 2004 under Jose Mourinho and helped the club win their first league title in 50 years.
Another Premier League triumph came in the following year amongst other various honours that he shared alongside Terry.
Drogba’s most notable contribution to Chelsea came in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich at their Allianz Arena.
The Ivorian scored an 88th minute equaliser to send the match to extra-time before netting the winning penalty in the shootout.
It was Chelsea’s first ever title win in the competition and Drogba left just weeks later but returned in 2014, again under Mourinho.
He won a fourth Premier League during his one season back in west London and was given a hero’s send-off in his final appearance.
Drogba and Ibrahimovic never faced each other on the pitch, although the latter did play against Chelsea on seven occasions.
Two of those came with United in the Premier League and the rest at PSG in the Champions League across three consecutive seasons.
Ibrahimovic was sent off in their last 16 second leg clash in the 2014/15 campaign but scored two goals over both legs in the following season to send PSG to the quarter-finals.
