Jorrel Hato sends Jurrien Timber message amid Arsenal transfer links
Today at 12:09 PM
Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber received a message from transfer-linked Jorrel Hato following the Gunners' 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the North London derby.
Mikel Arteta's side came from behind to secure all three points, with Heung-Min Son's opener cancelled out by a Dominic Solanke own goal and a decisive strike from Leandro Trossard.
Timber has been a standout player this season, making 27 appearances across all competitions and solidifying his place in Arsenal's defence.
Hato, Timber's Dutch compatriot and former Ajax teammate, has been linked with a potential move to join him at Arsenal following a string of impressive performances.
Speculation likely grew further after he responded to the full-back’s Instagram post celebrating the derby win, which was captioned "Victory earned!" Hato reacted with a heart emoji.
Other Dutch teammates such as Newcastle’s Sven Botman commented saying “Top playa” whilst West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville dropped a heart emoji too.
Arsenal can wait for Jorrel Hato but not for a forward signing
Hato, at just 18 years old, has been a standout performer for Ajax, attracting interest from elite clubs across Europe.
The young Dutchman's versatility—capable of playing as a left-back, left centre-back, or inverting from the left—makes him an ideal fit for Arteta's tactical system.
However, Arsenal's immediate focus lies elsewhere, with the manager making it clear that securing a forward signing in this window is the top priority. Fans are convinced the manager is publicly urging the board to act swiftly.
Injuries to Bukayo Saka and the long-term absence of Gabriel Jesus have left Arsenal's attacking options stretched thin. Kai Havertz, the only fully fit striker, has failed to find the net in his last three matches, further fuelling calls for reinforcements.
While Newcastle's Alexander Isak has been identified as Arsenal's top summer target, supporters insist the need for a signing now is far more urgent.
As for Hato, whether he reunites with his Dutch teammate Timber at the Emirates remains uncertain. Given the club’s pressing issues in attack, it would be surprising to see the club finalise a deal for the defender at this stage.
In other news, Arsenal are set to step up their efforts to sign in this position before the transfer window ends.
