Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has taken to social media to celebrate “capping off 2024 with a win” after their 1-0 victory over Ipswich on Friday (December 27).

The 25-year-old scored the only goal of the game as Arsenal leapfrogged Chelsea to go into second, six points behind league leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand.

Ipswich gave the home side an early scare after Sammy Szmoidics came within inches of reaching Leif Davis’ deflected cross.

Mikel Arteta’s side soon collected themselves and started turning the screws on Ipswich, before Havertz eventually made them pay with a close-range finish into an open net.

Arsenal continued to dominate the game but were unable to extend their lead. Ultimately, it didn’t matter, and the North London club ended 2024 with all three points.

The lanky German has been key for Arsenal so far this season starting 22 of his 25 games across all competitions, scoring 12 goals, and providing three assists in 2022 minutes of action.

Havertz took to Instagram after Arsenal’s win over Ipswich to celebrate, saying: “Capping off 2024 with a W! Thanks for all the support this year Gunners.”

Arsenal fans will have to wait until 2025 to see their side play again as they travel to Brentford on New Year’s Day (January 1).

Arteta’s side have tricky fun of fixtures in January, including games against Man United, Newcastle, and a North London Derby against arch-rivals Tottenham.
