Harry Wilson furious tirade at Darren Bond and his teammates’ reaction against Ipswich will lead to an FA charge for Fulham, Keith Hackett expects.

The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official exclusively told Football Insider that the Cottagers could be in trouble for the way their players surrounded the referee during the match.

There were plenty of incidents throughout the 2-2 draw with the Tractor Boys at Craven Cottage on Sunday (5 January) that left Marco Silva’s side frustrated.

Hackett has now suggested that the way the way the hosts’ players reacted to those incidents could lead to more fall out from this match for Fulham to deal with.

Fulham could be set for FA charge over player reactions to referee decisions

While they were denied one penalty during that clash with Kieran McKenna’s side, the hosts were also awarded two more during this game.

The first of those was for Fulham after Wilson was brought down in the area by Sam Morsy, but only after VAR had intervened, with Bond not giving the decision on-field at first.

Silva would not hold back with his verdict on the referee after the game, and neither did his attacker in this particular incident.

After Wilson had initially been denied the penalty on the pitch by Bond, the attacker could be seen furiously shouting and pointing at the referee.

Marco Silva and Fulham were far from happy with referee Darren Bond.

Yet despite the rules against dissent, the Fulham man avoided a booking for that action, although Hackett believes there could be punishment for his side to come over those actions, over the course of the game.

Having been asked by Football Insider if Wilson was lucky not to be booked for his reaction to not at first being given that penalty, the former referee said:

“Wilson not only publicly appealed but then ran to the referee, and in doing so that’s a sign of dissent. So for me, he should have been yellow carded, no question.

“Then he was surrounded by other players so I’m of the belief that will be charged, Fulham, for failing to control their players, because it didn’t look good.

“It wasn’t just one occasion, it was on a few. What Darren Bond should have done is get his yellow card out and shown a bit of authority.”

Fulham are next in action when they host Championship side Watford in the third round of the FA Cup on Thursday night (9 January).

Wilson has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Cottagers so far this season with five goals in 16 Premier League, including some major contributions as a substitute.

In other news, an update has been issued over Fulham and West Ham's interest in James McAtee.
