Keith Hackett: 'Stupid' Man United star set for FA charge

Man United striker Joshua Zirkzee is likely to be banned for at least three-match ban for his celebration in his side’s 3-1 win over Southampton, Keith Hackett has said.
The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official also suggested that the Dutchman will “certainly” be at least fined as a result of the incident.
A stunning 12-minute hat-trick from Amad saw Ruben Amorim’s side come from a goal down to secure all three points against the Premier League’s bottom side on Thursday (16 January).
However, Zirkzee’s reaction to one of those Man United goalslooks as though it could land the 23-year-old in trouble.
Joshua Zirkzee fallout after Man United beat Southampton
Having been brought on early on in the second half of that match with his side already 1-0 down, the introduction of Zirkzee did help turn the game in his side’s favour.
The striker’s determination and pressing from the front did see Man United take more control in the game.
It was a far cry from his last appearance at Old Trafford when he was jeered by his own fans off just 33 minutes into a defeat to Newcastle United.
He may though have enjoyed himself too much at one point, turning to face the crowd and grabbing his crotch while celebrating one of Amad’s goals.
Previous celebrations have seen players punished (talkSPORT), and Hackett believes the Man United man can expect to be in similar trouble for what happened here.
When asked by Football Insider if Zirkzee could face a punishment for his celebration, the former referee said:
“I expect the Football Association to charge the player for his rather stupid celebration act.
“Doing this in front of the supporters will certainly result in a fine and a strong possibility of a minimum three match ban.
“The FA have to take into account that actions of this nature incite the fans and can easily create fans surging forward and potential crushing injuries.
“A young man who will not doubt receive some operational advice from his club and management.”
Following that win, Man United now sit 12th in the Premier League after ending a run of four league games without a win.
They are next in action on Sunday afternoon (19 January) when they host Brighton at Old Trafford.
