Kevin De Bruyne sends four-word message amid Man City contract scramble

03/19/2025 12:52 PM
Kevin De Bruyne's future at Man City is uncertain as contract negotiations are yet to result in an official extension.
The midfielder, who has made 400 appearances for the Premier League giants is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium this summer, with major question marks surrounding his long-term future.
Ongoing injury issues have plagued him in recent years, slowing him down and altering the influence that he has on the team.
De Bruyne has scored 70 Premier League goals, and considering only seven other midfielders have managed more than that in the history of the division his influence is clear.
However, City are currently at loggerheads with De Bruyne when it comes to his contract as there has been no extension secured with just months left on his deal.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Saudi Arabian teams are monitoring De Bruyne's situation, which could throw a spanner in the works for Pep Guardiola's plans.
Kevin De Bruyne is not worrying right now
De Bruyne's contract situation might be uncertain at the moment, but that doesn't appear to be causing much concern for him as he focuses on his international career.
Club stats (2024-25) | De Bruyne |
Appearances | 30 |
Goals | 4 |
Assists | 7 |
Minutes played | 1,608 |
The creative midfielder is currently on international duty with Belgium and is focusing on that over anything else.
He shared a message on Instagram to say, "Long time, no see!"
Man City are looking at other midfield options
City could end up without De Bruyne in the squad next season and that is something that the club are preparing for.
City are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton is a player the club are monitoring.
Football Insider revealed that Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga is also interested in joining the defending Premier League champions after becoming frustrated with his game time in Spain.
