Kylian Mbappe mocked at Argentina World Cup parade as Emiliano Martinez holds doll with France forward’s face and Lionel Messi laughs at Teenage Mutan

France forward Kylian Mbappe continues to be mocked by the Argentina squad after ending up on the losing side in the World Cup final. The 24-year-old bagged a hat-trick and brought his country back from the brink twice, in normal time and extra-time, but it wasn’t enough as the Albiceleste won on penalties. This would suggest Martinez pocketed Mbappe – but that wasn’t the caseTwitter Millions of fans lined the streets of the Argentine capitalAFP Lionel Messi and his teammates have been partying ever since – and Mbappe has found himself the brunt of several jokes. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who has hit the headlines for numerous moments of s***housery, was filmed calling for ‘a minute’s silence for Mbappe’ in the changing room on Sunday. And now, the Aston Villa star was seen holding a baby doll with Mbappe’s face on it during the open-top bus parade through the streets of Buenos Aires on Tuesday. Given Mbappe made Martinez pick the ball out of his net four times in a World Cup final, including three penalties in the same corner, it certainly seems as though the Frenchman is living in the Argentine’s head rent free. Others have suggested the constant taunting is a response to comments made by Mbappe earlier this year. In an apparent dig at the South American nations, Mbappe suggested European teams were better prepared for the World Cup because they play ‘high-level matches against each other all the time’. We are a great team, recognised as such.” Meanwhile, Messi laughed off an attempt to mock Paris Saint-Germain teammate Mbappe when a fan threw a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy at him. Mbappe is often likened to Michelangelo, one of the four Ninja Turtles, and Messi was seen chuckling at the toy before throwing it back to the crowd. | Someone from the crowd threw a stuffed teenage mutant ninja turtle plushy (representing Mbappé) to Messi. Here is his reaction pic.twitter.com/6dB3cEj8Kc— infosfcb (@infosfcb) December 20, 2022 Despite defeat, Mbappe received a hero’s welcome on his return to Paris in front of thousands of France fans on Monday. Messi has arguably cemented his place as the game’s greatest-ever player, but it will be interesting to see how he is received in France on his return to the Parc des Princes. In the end, Argentina’s celebrations were cut short and the parade was abandoned after fans tried to jump onto a moving vehicle from a bridge. talkSPORT BET OFFER OF THE DAY Get up to £25 in free bets + 25 free spins* – CLAIM HERE 18+ New customers only.
