Liverpool ace Mac Allister reacts to Emi Martinez announcement at Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez drew a reaction from Alexis Mac Allister with his post on social media.
The Argentinean goalkeeper has won the Premier League save of the month award, for his magnificent save [Aston Villa] against Nottingham Forest (14 December).
Martinez made the save with the scoreline at 0-0 on the hour mark, as Nicolas Dominguez connected from a Gibbs-White flick-on, the Yashin Trophy winner leapt brilliantly to his left and scooped the ball off the line.
Jhon Duran would go on to score just three minutes later, putting the Midlands side ahead with a header from a John McGinn cross.
Despite Martinez’s heroics, Forest were able to score twice late on through Nikola Milenkovic and Anthony Elanga to steal all three points.
Aston Villa keeper Martinez continues to scoop up awards
Martinez was a late-bloomer, having only established himself as a Premier League goalkeeper at the age of 27 in the 2019/20 season.
The Argentine international deputised for an injured Bernd Leno when the pair were at Arsenal, before moving to the Villains for a fee of £17million [Sky Sports].
Since then, Martinez has blossomed, becoming a World Cup winner as Argentina’s first-choice goalkeeper, and winning the Yashin Trophy in 2023 and 2024.
Martinez posted an on Instagram saying: “I appreciate all the votes” and the post was liked by his Argentina team-mate Mac Allister.
Villa and Martinez will face West Ham on Sunday (26 January), as they look to avenge their 1-0 loss to AS Monaco in the Champions League.
Martinez may lose his teammate Robin Olsen in January, as FC Copenhagen are looking to sign the Swedish international.
In other news, West Ham have been questioned for their “unserious” bid for Villa star Jhon Duran.
