Liverpool boss Slot tricked Postecoglou at Tottenham: 'Hilarious' - Carragher

Arne Slot played Ange Postecoglou into not changing his style against Liverpool with his “hilarious” pre-match praise, according to Jamie Carragher.
Slot defended his Tottenham counterpart during a press conference earlier in the week, stating that it is a “joy to watch them” play their football [BBC Sport].
With their attacking prowess, Spurs managed three goals against the Reds. But they proved inconsequential as the match ended in a 6-3 defeat on 22 December.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, suggested that the Dutchman might have been subtly mocking Postecoglou’s style of play and baiting him into sticking to it. This is due to it often leaving the Lilywhites exposed defensively.
He said (6.42pm): “That press conference from Slot on Friday was hilarious. I mean people thought he was defending Postecoglou. I don’t believe that for one minute”‘
Host Dave Jones interrupted and said: “There is a manager’s union, Jamie”.
He responded: “I know, but listen, I actually thought he went too far. It was too obvious [he was making fun of him].
“He was desperate for Tottenham to play exactly the same way as they played against Manchester United. And they did, and Liverpool could have scored 10.
“What he said in that press conference, everyone I spoke to, Liverpool supporters, it was obvious what he was trying to get at”.
Arne Slot should feel grateful he made the switch to Liverpool

Former Feyenoord coach Slot was strongly linked to the Tottenham job before the North London club opted to hire Postecoglou instead [BBC Sport].
Daniel Levy's decision to appoint the Australian manager now seems under scrutiny, as Postecoglou's position appears increasingly precarious. They sit in 11th place after another dismal display and are eight points from a Champions League spot.
Adding to their woes, the Merseyside club have also been drawn against Spurs in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
However, Postecoglou’s team barely made it through their last match, with Fraser Forster's multiple errors almost costing them, which ended 4-3.
Meanwhile, Slot's team continue to thrive. They sit four points ahead of Chelsea in the league table and six above Arsenal, with a game in hand.
His impact since Jürgen Klopp's departure has been undeniable, as Liverpool lead both the domestic league and their Champions League group.
There is optimism surrounding the Dutchman's connection to captain Virgil van Dijk, with hopes that a contract extension for the defender can be secured soon.
For Tottenham, however, the outlook remains bleak. Fans, already critical of Postecoglou's leadership, have turned on him once again after his side shipped 13 goals in their last three home games.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have a favourable Boxing Day fixture against Leicester at Anfield, where they will look to extend their lead at the top of the table.
