While everyone at Liverpool seems to be very happy with Arne Slot so far, the Dutch media are still content to drag him down a peg or two when they feel it’s required.

Voetbalzone continue that today covering comments from Rene van der Gijp, who is unimpressed with Slot's touchline antics at Anfield.

The Dutchman has enjoyed a winning start to life at Liverpool after taking over in the summer, with a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest the only blip on the radar so far.

He's earning plenty of praise for how his side have been performing, something that hasn't gone unnoticed in the Netherlands.

We covered comments yesterday hitting out at the 'canonisation' of Slot so far, with journalist Valentijn Driessen insisting all he has done is build on the work previously done by Jurgen Klopp.

That was a somewhat negative look at the matter, and a predictable approach from the Dutch media, who are always keen to take the negative stance on any matter if they can.

Now the focus is on managers and how they behave on the touchline and that's seen the Liverpool manager having the spotlight pinned on him once again.

“I was watching that Guardiola yesterday. Who positions himself like an idiot in front of that dugout for 90 minutes. Why doesn’t anyone say anything about that?” he said on the KJEG podcast.

“It has very quickly become the norm. They used to laugh at that coach (Diego Simeone) of Atlético Madrid, who stood like a maniac in front of that dugout all the time.

”And then you got Conte and all those idiots. And if a trainer is sitting now, the board will probably say: ‘He is not involved in it’. From now on you have to stand in front of that dugout like a moron.

”Because after five seconds I see Arne Slot standing there and doing this. Come on, what kind of nonsense is that?"
