Liverpool have been left reeling by an injury suffered by goalkeeper Alisson Becker in Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace.

The Reds ran out 1-0 winners over the Eagles in Saturday’s early kick-off at Selhurst Park, with Diogo Jota scoring the only goal of the game in the ninth minute.

However, what should have been a joyous day for Liverpool and their fans was marred by the prospect of their goalkeeper being out long-term.

Alisson pulled up with just under 15 minutes remaining of the game, undergoing extensive treatment on the pitch before coming off.

The Brazil international looked distraught in wake of suffering the injury, and was spotted punching the ground while undergoing treatment.

With second-choice keeper Caoimhin Kelleher absent through illness, Vitezslav Jaros was introduced for his senior debut for the closing stages.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot spoke about Alisson’s injury after the game and shared how long it could be before he’s back in the fold.

Arne Slot expects Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson to miss ‘a few weeks’

Slot, speaking to the Liverpool media team after the game, said Alisson’s reaction as he came off the pitch suggests he won’t be in the Brazil squad for the international break.

The Dutchman also speculated that Alisson could be out for “a few weeks” with a hamstring issue, though further assessment is needed.

“The latest is that we don’t know but what we do know is that if a player walks off like he did, that normally means that he is not in the Brazil squad.

“I don’t expect him to be in the team in the first game we play after [the international break].

“We have to wait and see, but it is going to take a few weeks I assume for him to be back. I think it is [his hamstring].”

Alisson will now undergo scans to ascertain the extent of the damage.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has had recent hamstring issues

Alisson has already missed two games this season with a hamstring injury, and he also sat out more than two months last term with a similar issue.

His latest setback is particularly untimely, given some of the fixtures on the horizon for Liverpool.

After the international break, Liverpool take on Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the league.

The Reds also take on RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, while Brighton await in the Carabao Cup.
