Liverpool will go into the October international break top of the Premier League table, but they do so with a major injury concern.

The Reds ran out 1-0 winners at Crystal Palace in Saturday’s early kick-off, thanks to Diogo Jota’s ninth-minute goal.

However, Liverpool are also sweating over the fitness of Alisson Becker, who went down late on in the game with a suspected hamstring injury.

Alisson pulled up with just under 15 minutes remaining of the game, undergoing extensive treatment on the pitch before coming off.

The Brazil international looked distraught in wake of suffering the injury, and was spotted punching the ground while undergoing treatment.

The Athletic has now reported what Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was spotted doing just after Alisson went down on the pitch.

Virgil van Dijk signalled to Liverpool bench for immediate Alisson Becker change

The report said: ‘Just when everything seemed to be going to plan, Alisson dropped to the ground holding his leg in distress.

‘Virgil van Dijk signalled to the bench that a change was needed immediately. Off came Alisson's gloves as he punched the ground with frustration.’

Speaking after the game, as per the Liverpool Echo, Van Dijk appeared concerned over Alisson’s injury.

"Alisson's injury doesn't look good,” said the Dutchman. “It looks like a hamstring injury which was already bothering him, and from which he recovered.”

Slot has predicted that Alisson could be out for a number of weeks.

Who could replace Alisson in Liverpool goal?

Second-choice keeper Caoimhin Kelleher missed the Palace game due to illness, so Vitezslav Jaros was introduced for his Liverpool senior debut for the closing stages.

The Irishman isn’t expected to be out for long and, should Alisson not be fit after the international break, he’ll likely be the one to deputise, as he has done to great effect in previous years.

Kelleher was an important figure for Liverpool last season, making 26 appearances in all competitions in wake of Alisson picking up a hamstring injury.

The Reds first-choice stopper has already missed two games this season with a similar issue.
