Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate took to X to troll Arsenal fans before his team faced Tottenham in the Premier League.
The Frenchman has been sidelined since November after sustaining an injury against Real Madrid.
Despite his absence, Arne Slot's side have stayed unbeaten, securing three wins and two draws, including progression to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
The centre-back has remained active on social media during his recovery. On X, he responded to a Liverpool fan who called out an Arsenal supporter for joking about his injury, particularly as Bukayo Saka now faces time out with an injury of his own.
Konaté replied, "We are not like them… We wish no harm. Anyway In Sha Allah big 3 points today".
The post further endeared him to Liverpool fans who responded in support, while subtly taking aim at their rivals.
Liverpool are feeling the impact without Ibrahima Konate
Football Insider opinion
Before his injury, Konaté and Virgil van Dijk formed a formidable partnership at the heart of the defence. This reignited debates over whether the Dutchman is the greatest centre-back in Premier League history.
Since his absence, Liverpool's defensive record has taken a hit. They have kept just one clean sheet in the league this December, which came against Manchester City.
The 2-2 draw with Fulham could partially be attributed to Andy Robertson's controversial red card. But the lack of his commanding presence and leadership at the back is clear.
Injuries have been a recurring issue for Konaté since his arrival at Anfield. Between the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, he missed a total of 37 games. This season, he has already been unavailable for 12 matches [Transfermarkt]. Despite this, the club’s hierarchy remains confident in his potential and values his impact when fit.
With his current deal expiring in 2026, the club is keen to avoid another high-profile contract running into its final months.
Reports suggest the Merseyside team are eager to reward Konaté's performances with a new deal to secure his future.
The club are also confident that Van Dijk is close to committing to a contract extension, ensuring their defensive partnership continues to anchor the team for years to come.
In other news, Liverpool are plotting a move to sign a Brazilian star.
