Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has returned to training on the eve of his side’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

The right-back has been out of action for the last three weeks after injuring his hamstring in the Reds’ 2-0 win against Aston Villa before the international break.

Speaking before his side’s 3-2 win against Southampton on Sunday, Arne Slot was unsure when the England defender would return to action.

Liverpool, who top the 36-team Champions League table, take on 15-time champions Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday.

And they could welcome Alexander-Arnold back into the fold after the defender was spotted back in training on Tuesday.

Conor Bradley deputised against Southampton on Sunday but could make way if Alexander-Arnold is deemed fit to start against Madrid.

Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker were absent from training as they continue their respective recoveries.
