Liverpool Transfers: Alexander-Arnold update after latest from Spain
12/30/2024 04:30 PM
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool future is yet to be decided despite recent reports from Spain, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old is a top target for Real Madrid, who could agree to sign the right-back on a free transfer on Thursday (1 January).
Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Marca claimed on Friday (27 December) that he has already informed Liverpool he won’t be signing a new deal – and will instead join Real Madrid for free.
However, it is believed that nothing has been decided on his future – with the player fully focused on lifting titles with the Reds this term.
That will be a huge boost for Liverpool fans, many of whom have almost given up hope the England international will still be at Anfield next season.
Alexander-Arnold scored in the 5-0 demolition of West Ham on Sunday (29 December) and celebrated by holding his right hand to his head and mimicking a talking sign.
He has made 23 appearances across all competitions this term, notching one goal and five assists.
Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool exit not done despite reports from Spain
The Reds academy graduate has played 333 times for the club since making his debut as an 18-year-old in 2016.
Alexander-Arnold has hit 20 goals for the club and has won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League – a trophy haul he is well-placed to expand upon this season.
Arne Slot’s side sit top in the English top-flight and in the league phase of Europe’s premier club competition with 2025 set to get underway.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also out of contract in June and have held talks over a potential renewal.
