Bologna have concerns over Santiago Castro and Remo Freuler being fit to play against Liverpool, according to Quotidiano Sportivo.

The Serie A side will travel to England to face Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday, after a 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Sunday.

The 20-year-old striker got his name on the scoresheet in that match. Castro was replaced in the 68th minute and Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano said he was taken off due to a calf injury.

The Argentina U20 international’s calf is hurting and the time to recover to face Liverpool is ‘tight’.

It’s claimed Castro is ‘dying’ to feature against Liverpool and will do everything possible to make himself available. He wants to play at Anfield ‘at all costs’.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old defender was tackled by Atalanta’s Raoul Bellanova in the first minute. Freuler finished the full 90 minutes but came out of the tie in a ‘bad shape’.

It’s claimed he was in ‘pain’ yesterday and remains hopeful to play against Liverpool. The Bologna manager should provide more updates on Castro and Freuler during the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
