Louis Saha has urged Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim to do ‘everything’ to sign a former Chelsea and Arsenal target before the transfer deadline.

Time is running out for the struggling Premier League giants to bolster Amorim’s squad.

Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Denmark full-back Patrick Dorgu but further reinforcements are surely needed for a team sitting in the bottom-half of the Premier League.

United won two games last week – beating Rangers in the Europa League and Fulham in the Premier League – after Amorim said his team were ‘maybe the worst’ in the club’s 147-year history.

Despite his private concerns over the Manchester United squad, Amorim has said he will be ‘cautious’ in the final week of the January transfer window.

Saha, though, hopes his former club bring in a new striker before the February 3 deadline and says they should be doing ‘everything’ to sign Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen, who has been repeatedly linked with moves to Chelsea and Arsenal, has scored 16 goals in 20 games for Galatasaray since joining the Turkish club on loan last summer.

Despite his superb goal record – Osimhen scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli – Antonio Conte has banished the striker from his squad in Naples and the club are open to a permanent transfer in the next few days.

'Victor Osimhen is the striker I would do everything to bring to Manchester United,’ ex-Old Trafford star Saha told Spaceport Sweden.

'I love him as a player. I think he’s the only striker out there who is transferable that would be a guaranteedsuccess.

'I also think that Osimhen is the type of player that would help the other strikers at United. They would be able to learn from him, while he would carry most of the pressure of scoring the goals in the team.

'That would enable Hojlund and Zirkzee to play with more freedom. He can also help the other players in the team. His link-up play is so good, he's solid on that.

'At the moment, the United strikers don’t win enough 50-50 challenges. They don’t go behind the defenders enough, they don't have the best movement in the box.

'Osimhen would solve all of those problems. I would love to see the club make an offer for him, whether it is in January or in the summer. He would be a revelation in the Premier League.'

Chelsea had a delegation in Naples last summer to try and strike a deal to sign Osimhen but the move fell through on transfer deadline day.

Saha is not the only ex-Manchester United star hoping to see Osimhen arrive at Old Trafford, with Rio Ferdinand recently endorsing a deal for the Nigerian.

‘I’d be going to get Osimhen now if we can do it from a financial standpoint,’ Ferdinand said. ‘Get him on loan now!

‘[He] guarantees you someone who can get on the end of things, scores goals, experienced, done it at the top level.’

Manchester United spent over £70m to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023 but the Denmark international has largely struggled, scoring just two league goals this season.

Reports claim the Red Devils could even cash in on Hojlund in the summer amid interest from Serie A giants Napoli and Juventus.
