FC Nantes owner Waldemar Kita has publically denied the possibility of Liverpool's Trent Alexander Arnold buying the club but has invited him to come play for the French side, albeit once a week.

RMC Sport cover comments from the Nantes president today in which he 'categorically' denied any contact with the Liverpool star.

They explain that Kita was asked by Ouest-France about the rumour today after claims of a possible takeover by the full-back. Rumours he was keen to dismiss.

“If this is true? Where does this come from? Trent Alexander-Arnold? But I don’t even know!" he said.

"I just spoke with my lawyer, I asked him: ‘Who is this guy -there?’ He told me that his father was in finance and that they have a few players and other agents.

"I’ve never had a video conference with anyone. It’s nonsense. what. (…) It's not serious."

The question and subsequent response was in reply to a report from L'Equipe that stated contact has been established with Alexander-Arnold about a possible takeover of the French side.

According to them he would be eyeing up a deal via an investment fund managed by his father and the 25-year-old would be very interested in the idea.

The newspaper even claimed that Waldemar Kita had spoken to the English group via videoconference last July before meeting them physically in Geneva in mid-September. That resulted in an oral offer of €100m, €80 of which would be paid straight away.

A new meeting would have then been held on Thursday in London, but it seems Kita is determined to deny it outright. Even manager Antoine Kombouaré was playing it down, joking Alexander Arnold is fee to come play at the club while owning them if he wishes.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold, if he wants to be president and play… That way he would only play one match a week, it would be calmer for him!" he added.
