Manchester United fans are urging Ruben Amorim to make big Bruno Fernandes decision after Bournemouth
Today at 11:45 AM
Another day, and another Manchester United defeat, this time against Bournemouth in front of a packed out Old Trafford and fans are turning their anger towards Bruno Fernandes.
Ruben Amorim is now fully aware of the task he has on his hands as he saw his side produce another dismal display and come out second best to the Cherries all afternoon.
For United, there was little if anything to smile about and in the main, it was a performance full of poor individual errors and displays.
Key for United doing well is how well Bruno Fernandes plays and if he has a good game, then United generally tend to do ok.
However, today was not one of those days for Fernandes. The skipper struggled in tough conditions and was effectively nullified by Bournemouth’s brilliance.
Over on social media, though, there was little room for sympathy from the United faithful, who called on Amorim to look at potentially replacing the captain in the future.
Man United fans call for Bruno Fernandes change after Bournemouth hammering
Looking at the reaction on X to Fernandes’ performance, it seems he’s the latest Red Devil to come in for criticism.
Indeed, one fan called for United to sign a midfield due to Fernandes being unsuitable for Amorim’s system.
While @_TrulyLUHG_ agreed with the above take, even suggesting Amorim will not have success if he persists with Fernandes.
“Amorim mate I want you to succeed but you won't if Bruno Fernandes is one of your starting 10s long term”
Another supporter, @OnlyZaan, picked up on the Portuguese midfielder’s set-pieces being so poor.
“Bruno Fernandes's set pieces are the worst I've seen at this club !! Barring penalties he's absolutely useless at it”
While continuing the criticism, @utdHarryy insisted that those who rate Fernandes are ‘delusional’.
‘I'm sorry but if you guys think we can win a premier league title with Bruno Fernandes starting every week your are DELUSIONAL. The way he loses the ball so cheaply isn't sustainable‘
Continuing the theme of Fernandes being problematic, @giordano84 suggested that the midfielder is a big issue for the club.
‘Said it before and will say it again Bruno Fernandes is a massive issue’
Finally, @Cantseyy suggested that Fernandes should be next out of the door after Marcus Rashford.
‘Clearing Rashford out will be a big step forward. Fernandes next. Dreadful’
Bruno Fernandes to be move on from Man United?
Ruben Amorim knew he was taking a big job on at Old Trafford but now he knows even more just what the problems are at the club.
Quite whether he feels Bruno Fernandes is part of the problem, only he will know. But right now, the skipper is hardly inspiring the Red Devils and he’s going to be easy to blame.
There is an argument that he should be moved on as he’s been part the culture for a long time. At the same time, some may argue he just needs better around him to flourish.
Time will tell, but with January round the corner, Amorim and United face some huge calls.
