Radek Vítek transferred to Manchester United’s youth system in 2020, with the young goalkeeper moving from Sigma Olomouc.

In January of this year he went on loan to Accrington Stanley for the remainder of the campaign, to pick up some senior experience.

The 20-year-old secured another loan from Manchester United in the summer window, with Austrian Bundesliga club FC Blau-Weiß Linz taking him until the end of the season. They’re currently fourth in the top flight, and will be hoping to keep up that level of the season.

Unfortunately, they’re going to have to do a few weeks of that without the Manchester United youngster, after he picked up an injury.

Earlier this week, FC Blau-Weiß Linz posted on their official website: He tore his cruciate and medial ligaments during the warm-up during the 1-0 derby victory. The 20-year-old will therefore be out for several weeks.’

Of course, the very mention of a cruciate ligament injury is cause for alarm in football. However, the optimistic outlook from the Austrian is built on good foundations.

A source has informed Sport Witness that Radek Vítek has only a relatively small tear, his knee-joint is ‘stable’, and that’s why the Manchester United player is expected back within weeks.
