Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is "more than likely" to leave during the summer transfer window, according to a Sky Sports pundit.

The centre-back showcased his quality in scoring Palace's second goal in a 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Guehi has been the subject of recent transfer speculation, with Football Insider reporting that Chelsea have already held preliminary talks to re-sign their former player.

Adding to the rumours, Clinton Morrison shared his “honest” opinion on Sky Sports News, stating that he believes his time at Selhurst Park will likely come to an end this summer.

He said (9.38pm): “You know the one thing is that defensively they’ve been very good. Marc Guehi, [Maxence] Lacroix and [Trevoh] Chalobah when he was in there, obviously he’s gone back to Chelsea, [Chris] Richards in there, defensively as a unit they look really good.

“Let’s be honest, come the summer, Marc Guehi more than likely won’t be there. He’s one of the best English centre-halves that are playing in the Premier League at the moment.

“That’s why he’s a regular in the national team and Thomas Tuchel’s very lucky to have him.”

Crystal Palace will find it difficult to keep Marc Guehi

Football Insider Verdict

Guehi has been a pivotal figure for his team over the years, forming a solid defensive partnership with Lacroix and Chalobah this season.

However, when big clubs come calling, it becomes difficult to turn them down. Guehi's defensive partner, Chalobah, reportedly gave the green light to be recalled by his parent club, Chelsea, in exchange for more playing time at the highest level.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is wanted by several Premier League clubs.

Manchester City have also previously shown interest in the England international as they look to strengthen their defence.

Guehi has proven his worth at Palace, making over 100 Premier League appearances. He's become a key for the national team too and played an important role in Lee Carsley's stint as interim manager, earning 22 international caps.

Morrison's statement that Tuchel would be "lucky" to have him is certainly not understated. The defender continues to perform at an exceptional level.

Fans will hope Guehi’s focus now shifts to the upcoming fixture against West Ham on 18 January, as Palace look to extend their impressive five-game unbeaten run.

In other news, a Crystal Palace winger is wanted by a Major League Soccer club.
