Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has taken to social media to celebrate his “Christmas present” to the fans after their 2-0 Premier League win over Man United on Boxing Day (December 26).

Ruben Amorim’s side were reduced to ten men just after the first-half after Bruno Fernandes received a second yellow card for a rash challenge on Nelson Semedo.

Cunha, 25, made them pay not long after, scoring directly from a corner, the second time United have conceded such a goal in as many games, to give the home side the lead.

The Brazilian then set up strike partner Hee-Chan Hwang in added time, selflessly laying him off to slot past Andre Onana and secure a much-needed three points.

Wolves’ win over Man United sees them move out of the relegation zone for the first time this season, leapfrogging Leicester into 17th with 15 points from their 18 games.

Cunha has been a shining light as Wolves have struggled in the first half of the season, starting 17 of his 19 games across all competitions, scoring ten goals, and providing four assists in 1537 minutes of action.

The striker’s fine form has earned him several admirers both in the Premier League and Europe, including Man United.

Football Insider revealed (December 1) that the 20-time champions have identified Cunha as the perfect forward for Amorim’s system and the club’s scouts continue to watch him closely.

For now, Cunha seems content in the West Midlands, taking to Instagram to celebrate the win, saying: “There's your Christmas present Wolves fans. You deserve it.”

Man United now have just one win in their last five Premier League games, losing five games in December for the second consecutive year, dropping down to 14th.

Vitor Pereira has a 100 per cent record and hasn’t conceded a goal since replacing Gary O’Neil just before Christmas, with Wolves traveling to Tottenham on Sunday (December 29) for their last game of 2024.
