Matheus Cunha sends 'special' message to Wolves fans after latest

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has taken to social media to celebrate his two-year anniversary at the Premier League club.

An initial loan deal with an obligation to buy was agreed with the 25-year-old former club, Atletico Madrid, on Boxing Day 2022.

Cunha has since become a key player for Wolves, starting 16 of his 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring nine goals, and providing three assists in 1447 minutes of action.

Wolves remain in a relegation dogfight despite the Brazilian’s fine form, sitting in 18th with three wins, three draws, 11 defeats, and just 12 points from their 17 games.

Gary O’Neil was dismissed and replaced by Vitor Pereira after their 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Ipswich Town.

Pereira began his tenure in style with an emphatic 3-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City in the latest round of fixtures, with Cunha capping off the scoring just before the half-time whistle.

Football Insider revealed (December 18) that former club and La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid are interested in re-signing the Brazil international.

Cunha appears to be content at Wolves, for now at least, taking to Instagram to share the club’s post celebrating his two-year anniversary at the club.

Wolves host Ruben Amorim’s struggling Man United side on Boxing Day (December 26) with the visitors having lost their last two Premier League games.

Pereira’s side will then travel to Tottenham on the 29th in their last game of the hectic festive period, rounding off their dismal second-half of 2024.
